'ARMS' Gameplay News: Patch 3.2 Trailer Previews New Achievements System, Spring Man's New Appearance
Nintendo shared some interesting previews on the gameplay additions that will arrive along with "ARMS" update 3.2 in a trailer released during the Nintendo World Championships 2017 over the weekend.
"ARMS" is a Nintendo Switch-exclusive fighting game that features fighters who attack and defend themselves through weapons that are attached as arms, as the game's title suggests. Every fighter has standard weapons, but players can still match up fighters and arms depending on their capacity and strategy.
The short trailer that runs for a little over a minute mainly previewed an upcoming achievements system for the game. However, the video only provided some clues on what kinds of rewards are set to arrive.
For example, the patch 3.2 trailer showed that an upcoming "Random" objective will give a player 20 A-coins -- the in-game currency -- if they get to finish a task or win a round first.
The very short trailer also featured a montage of the upcoming badges which are probably part of the new achievements system to be added in "ARMS" version 3.2.
While the video teaser did not specify what each badge meant, how to get them or what reward they entailed, some bits of information were provided. For example, there will be a badge for players when they win their first Grand Prix game. Aside from the badge, a reward of 60 A-coins will also be given.
Another badge was also previewed that will be received by players who have "sprung into action for 50 rounds." Earning 1,000 A-coins also entitled a player to a badge.
Meanwhile, all recognition emblems shown translate to 60 A-coins. It is yet to be confirmed if other badges are worth more or less the said amount.
While having more chances of earning A-coins and bragging rights are exciting, one small portion shown at the end of the trailer raised even more curiosity among "ARMS" fans.
With 10 seconds left in the trailer video, Nintendo previewed what looked like an all-new Spring Man. This could be a brand-new fighter or a new skin for the standard Spring Man. Either way, the fighter sported a metal, gold and red costume and spring arms. The character also bursts into fire as his weapon flames up. Nintendo also implied that this new identity comes with less mercy as it sported fierce laser-lit eyes.
"ARMS" update 3.2 is expected to go live this month.
