'Arrow' News, Rumors: Deathstroke Spinoff in the Works?
Deathstroke played by actor Manu Bennet was one of the favorite characters in "Arrow" and many fans hope to see him more.
For now, the show will be treating fans with an episode centered on the mercenary. However, it looks like there are plans to extend that into a full-on spinoff.
This is what Bennet revealed at the MCM Comic Con in London held over the weekend:
Marc Guggenheim and I talked about a Deathstroke TV series and it would be awesome. If we could make it R-rated, if we could maybe leap onto another network platform that we could be at that level, make it Logan-esque and all that sort of stuff, Marc and I could write that series. But it's not our property to say. I know the fanbase out there would be keen for it.
Bennet has expressed interest in returning full-time to play Deathstroke. He even tried to bring Netflix to the talks to make the spinoff possible.
However, as mentioned above, "Arrow" is for now just bringing the character back this season with an installment that will focus on his backstory. The character was first featured in the show's second season.
There is nothing set in stone yet about a full-on spinoff though. For now, Deathstroke is also headed to the big screen in the DC Comics cinematic universe that Warner Bros. is putting together with Joe Manganiello playing the role.
Bennet said that he already met the actor a couple of times, describing him as "a wonderful guy and he's incredible well built and he'll fit a superhero costume better than anybody."
The actor also talked about the rumored Deathstroke solo film in the works:
It's going to be interesting now that they're doing the film just how much of Slade Wilson's character can be read in 90 minutes.
I'm not saying that it's not possible and obviously they're going to have a bigger spend on all the visual effects.
