'Arrow' Season 3 News: Episode 5 Recap, Episode 6 Plot Revealed

In last Wednesday's episode of "Arrow," titled "The Secret Origin of Felicity Smoak," fans got to see a very different Felicity from five years ago, and even her mother (Charlotte Ross) turns up unexpectedly.

Flashback to five years ago: Felicity, who is unrecognizable with dark hair and goth trappings, is seen hacking with her boyfriend and other programmers. She manages to hack into a government site, and when her boyfriend Cooper wants to take it further, she stops him, saying that the Feds can find the signal and trace them, which happens right away. Felicity admits to being the one who hacked the site, but it was Cooper who was sent to jail. Meanwhile, Felicity changes her image and starts her path to being the Felicity that fans know and love.

Back in the present time, Felicity's mother drops by unannounced, and Ray Palmer tries to win her over in order for Felicity to like him. Later, a power surge knocks out the electricity in the whole city. A hacker broadcasts a message, intending to put the city on hostage by taking control of the electricity. Felicity recognizes the hacker's code as the one that she made five years ago. It's easy to think that Cooper was responsible for this, but he hung himself while he was in jail, and all this time Felicity thinks that he's dead.
