'Arrow' Season 5 Episode 17: Oliver Breaks Under Chase's Torture

Chase, aka Prometheus (Josh Segarra), knows exactly how to make Oliver (Stephen Amell) suffer even more in the upcoming episode of "Arrow."

In the episode titled "Kapiushon," the promo shows the Green Arrow still shackled and very much under Chase's control. Aside from the physical torture he has to endure, Oliver has to listen to Chase as the latter toys with him, claiming he will kill all those Oliver loves, one by one. In the clip, he taunts him with a photo of his son. Chase tells Oliver that he will go after the little boy next. This is all part of his plan to break the city mayor from within. Previously, Chase kidnapped Susan (Carly Pope), Oliver's ex-girlfriend, and sent him pieces of footage where he was torturing her.

Chase's reasons for hating Oliver still remain a mystery. He claims he does not want to kill him. He just wants him to suffer. Although Oliver has prepared his body to take severe beatings, he is mentally and emotionally unprepared for what Chase has in store for him. The teaser shows him crying out in despair, yelling at Chase to keep away from the people he cares about and to focus only on him. Unfortunately for Oliver, Chase is determined to not play fair. Will he really target Oliver's boy?

Meanwhile, executive producer Marc Guggenheim recently shared with Entertainment Weekly the storyline they are planning for Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and Helix, the group of hackers she has started associating with in the series. According to the EP, Felicity will be in a position where she will understand how Oliver's mind works.

"We're starting to put her in Oliver's footsteps a little bit. She's going to get a chance to experience things a little bit more from Oliver's perspective. I think the reason they broke up was her difficulty to see things from Oliver's perspective. They broke up fundamentally because she didn't trust Oliver, and the reason she didn't trust Oliver is she couldn't understand why he made the decisions he made," the EP teased.

"Arrow" season 5 airs Wednesdays at 8 p.m. EDT on the CW.
