Mericle likewise mentioned that she has also sought inspiration from documentary videos featuring Bratva and the situation inside Russian prison cells. The Bratva is known for their adherence to violence and their brutality, especially towards their victims. Fans will witness violent fights and a lot of action in "Arrow's" next season.

Flashbacks will also be featured in Season 5 which, according to reports, seem to be disjointed from the actual present-day story. The new storyline based in Russia will now become the current timeline of the series, while flashbacks will still continue with relevance to the present time.
