'Arrow' Season 6 Spoilers: Oliver 'Smiling a Lot More,' Stephen Amell Hints

Oliver (Stephen Amell) will be a little less bogged down when "Arrow" returns for season 6.

Amell recently headlined a solo panel at the Heroes & Villains FanFest in New Jersey, and he offered some details for the show's upcoming season. The 36-year-old teased that fans will see a different side of Oliver in the new season.

"It's a strange thing. Oliver actually this season is a very contented individual," said the actor (via TVLine). "At least so far. Methinks that will probably change, based on just 120some episodes of history. But I've seen three episodes and he's smiling a lot more..... It's nice as an actor to not be a stick in the mud all the time," he went on to say.

A smiling Oliver appears like a shift toward a more traditional Green Arrow compared with the previous installment. Oliver's brooding character on The CW is often compared to that of Batman instead of the comic version of Oliver.  Making the green-clad hero smile more possibly represents a change toward a more faithful version of the original DC comics hero.

In addition, Amell revealed that his character will be debuting another new suit this year. This does not come as a huge surprise though, considering the number of costume changes the Green Arrow has gone through over the years. Besides, Oliver is capable of improving his costume from time to time because of his billionaire status.

Cinemablend notes Oliver will be using a brand-new trick arrow that will be featured on the upcoming four-way "Arrow"-verse crossover. Viewers have yet to see how this trick arrow will look like since promotional photos showing Oliver in full costume are still not out. If one thing is for sure, the new trick arrow has big shoes to fill if it wants to outmatch the popular boxing glove arrow.

The sixth season of "Arrow" premieres Thursday, Oct. 12, at 9 p.m. EDT on The CW.
