The teams are in Group E alongside German club Bayer Leverkusen and Belarus outfit FC BATE but clearly Roma and Barcelona are the favoured teams to move on.

This early clash is an anticipated contest and look for both teams to get the win and early advantage in the competition.

Last year's competition didn't go well for Roma as they were part of a tough group and were eliminated in the group stages.

Grouped with teams like Manchester City, Bayern Munich and CSKA Moskva, Roma finished third and were dropped to the UEFA Europa League.

Now they have a real chance of moving on but have to deal with the champions.

Obviously, the Catalans were the last team standing in the curtain call of last year's competition as they bagged their fifth European title.

They beat out tough teams to lift the title as they eliminated City, Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich before battling Juventus for the title.

Lionel Messi and company eventually won 3-1 and now have the chance to go on another impressive run as they are still considered a heavy favourite in the competition.

Looking at their league forms, Roma are unbeaten so far after three games in the Serie A but a draw in their first game sees them fifth in the league.

Meanwhile, Barcelona have an unblemished record so far with wins over Athletic Club, Malaga and Atletico Madrid to find their place at the top of the Spanish La Liga.
