'Ash vs Evil Dead' Season 3 Release Date News: New Installment Speculated to Premiere on Halloween

Starz's popular horror comedy series "Ash vs. Evil Dead" is confirmed to return for a third season. And even though no official release date is confirmed yet, fans are expected to get their next fix around the Halloween season as it was the original schedule of the show's first two installments.

Plot details of the upcoming installment are still kept under wraps, but the series' creators have already dropped hints during previous interviews as to where the show is heading next.

The central question that most fans ask is how Ash (Bruce Campbell) could possibly prove that he is indeed the "Chosen One."

Fortunately for fans, show executive producer Sam Raimi has already confirmed that this will be tackled extensively during the third season, hinting that Ash's future involves the Army of Darkness.

Campbell further confirmed that the story will involve crazy stuff (as expected). "There is a myth to Ash, there is a story, and so we want to explore a little more of that Joseph Campbell, big picture story," says the actor in a previous interview with Entertainment Weekly. However, he added that he "can't say much" because it appears they plan to "do some crazy s***."

Meanwhile, there are speculations that season 3 of "Ash vs. Evil Dead" will not revolve around comedic gory delights unlike its first two seasons, and it might move towards a more serious approach when it comes to its dark and horror themes.

This is because showrunner Craig DiGregorio left the series by the season 2 finale, citing creative differences with producer Rob Tapert who wanted to give the show a darker and more serious horror approach, while DiGregorio pushed for a comedy angle.

"Creatively, we just didn't have the same taste at all," DiGregorio revealed during an A.V. Club interview in December 2016, though he added that Tapert was overall a great person and producer, but their differences led him to decide to finally leave the show.

DiGregorio also speculated that since Tapert would love a serious horror theme, the story might stay in Elk Grove.

"Maybe Ash is the sheriff of the town, I don't know. I try not to think about it because it's not something I would have wanted." DiGregorio said.
