Ashley Judd Celebrates Husband's Indy 500 Win
Ashley Judd rang in her husband Dario Franchitti's big win at the Indianapolis 500 over the weekend by posting several special messages on Twitter.
Following her emotional reaction to her husband's victory, Judd took to her Twitter account.
"ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?! Wow," Judd tweeted just after her husband won the race, along with a photo of herself.
Judd married Franchitti in 2001. In another post, the actress thanked those behind her husband's accomplishment.
"My Indiana Home! Thank you @dariofranchitti @tcgteams @ims & @IndyCar for the memories of a lifetime," wrote the actress.
She also posted: "@DarioFranchitti Love, i thought you would enjoy seeing this: A.J. Foyt," and included a photo of a newspaper clipping from the Indianapolis 500. The message reminded her husband of his incredible car racing feat of reaching his third win in one year less than racing legend A.J. Foyt.
The weekend event also paid homage to last year's Indy 500 winner Dan Wheldon who died in a car crash last October. Franchitti dedicated his win to the late driver. Wheldon's wife, Susie, sat next to Judd in the backseat of the convertible during the victory lap.
"It meant the world to be [able] to have hold [sic] hands with and have my arm around Susie Wheldon's waist on the Victor's Parade Lap," Judd posted to Twitter Monday.
Following his win, Franchitti reflected on his successful racing career.
"I'm very proud of the achievements, whether it's Indy wins, championships, everyone of the race wins," said the Scottish driver, according to the Associated Press. "Sometimes I look back, but generally I'm trying to look forward. When I retire, that's the time to look back."
Other stars such as Martina McBride, Gladys Knight, Olivia Newton-John, and Maria Menounous also attended the Indy 500 over the weekend. McBride sang the national anthem ahead of the race.
