Ashley Judd Senate Run Given A 'Close Look' After Support Mounts
Hollywood actress and political activist Ashley Judd is eyeing at building a campaign to counter current Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) for his senate seat.
Rumors have been circulating for months over whether or not Judd would run against McConnell, but her comments over the weekend point to the fact that the actress is really considering running.
"I am incredibly honored and frankly overwhelmed by the outpouring of support- that the people of Kentucky are interested in having me represent them is the greatest honor of my life so far, and I am certainly taking a close look at it," Judd said during The Kentucky Society of Washington's Bluegrass Ball in Washington, D.C., on Saturday.

Judd was in Washington and was honored at the Kentucky Society's Bluegrass Ball on Saturday for her humanitarian work. Judd has been a leader and vocal supporter for causes concerned with ending violence against women and campaigns trying to prevent diseases that affect the global poor.
"The people of Kentucky need a fighter and certainly going back 10 generations, I've got some fighters from those hills in my family and as soon as I know anything- after I've told the family members to whom I've made my promises that they'll be the first to know- you will be up to date in real time," Judd added.
It has also been rumored that Judd will refrain from getting involved in the upcoming race and will wait to enter the political arena until 2016, when Republican Kentucky Sen. Rand. Paul would be up for re-election.
Judd is not the only person in Hollywood rumored to be interested in running for office. In December, it was thought actor Ben Affleck would be running for Congress. While the actor is known for being involved in politics as well as charitable causes, Affleck put the rumors to rest.
"I love Massachusetts and our political process, but I am not running for office," Affleck stated on his Facebook page at the time.
