Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore Divorce: Couple Face $290 Million Court Battle

While many remain surprised over the divorce announcement between Ashton Kutcher and Demi Moore, the couple is now facing a significant hurdle after six years of marriage – dividing the money.

If they decide to file for divorce in California, they will have to split all the earnings they made during their time together right down the middle. Unless they agree to settle out of court, a judge will have to decide how to allocate their estimated $290 million of combined wealth, according to Hollywood Life.

Moore is said to have several private homes that she bought before her marriage to Kutcher, which should remain in her possession. Due to her great movie success in the 90s, the actress amassed more than $90 million of her own money before the marriage. She even has a $1 million doll collection that she will insist remains hers.

Kutcher, on the other hand, had a less substantial fortune before the marriage, but the $500k he receives per episode for his work on “Two And A Half Men” would have to be divided between the two, according to divorce attorney Vikki Ziegler to Hollywood Life. Depending on what the judge decides, he may or may not be allowed to keep the full sum in future earnings after the divorce is over.

If it goes that far, business experts might even be called in to determine the value of gifts the couple bought for each other.

Despite rumors that Kutcher might have cheated on Moore, who is 16 years his elder; the couple has so far handled their divorce with grace, with each party expressing their sadness over the split.

They had been a staple for one of the more steady-looking marriages in Hollywood, giving numerous interviews where they declared their happiness and unity. If they do not decide to settle out of court, however, they may be in for an ugly and drawn-out end to their affair.
