'Assassin's Creed' movie news: Costume design team stays faithful to the game's historical portrayal of characters

With Michael Fassbender's first shot as Aguilar out, fans are craving for more details on what they will see on the "Assassin's Creed" movie.

The movie remains true to the game series as a new Assassin comes hand in hand with a modern-day counterpart. Aside from playing Aguilar, the new character created solely for the film, Fassbender will also be Callum Lynch, who will discover his lineage and connection to the 15th century assassin through his genetic memories.

According to a blog post on Ubisoft's official blog, the story line isn't based on any of the amazing games in the franchise. However, the costume design team has reportedly done its best to remain true to the visuals of the series, particularly focusing on the historically slanted style portrayed in the games.

Costume designer Sammy Sheldon Differ said, "I have much respect for the historical accuracy and vast characterization represented in each game." Differ further explained that his team's love for the history instilled in each game gave them what they needed to "be faithful to the artistic content."

The designer added that he used the likes of 15th century Spain, which is known to be strongly influenced by Moorish decors, to create a more nomadic look for the assassin's warrior personification.

When news of the movie adaptation first surfaced, fans were torn between excitement and doubt. Several reports and reviews suggest that some fans may be doubting the movie because of the failure of many game-turned-movies to present a story line that not only remains true to the game version but at the same time comes with fresh plots that create perfect resonance with the original story.

Meanwhile, Movie News Guide says fans will see familiar faces upon the movie's release. While everybody now knows that Fassbender will be one of the leads, several reports indicate that Michael K. Williams and French actress Ariane Labed will be joining the "X-Men" star.

Assassin's Creed is scheduled for release on Dec. 21, 2016.
