Assassin's Creed Unity Release Date PS4, Xbox One, PC: New Features, Gameplay Updates, Cooperative Multiplayer
The seventh title in the Assassin's Creed franchise titled Assassin's Creed: Unity, is going to be released on October 28 for the Playstation 4, Xbox One, and the PC. The title will succeed the 2013 AC release, Black Flag and will be set during the French Revolution.
The title will retain the third-person perspective and the open world exploration elements that previous titles have also enjoyed. This time, the story will follow assassin Arno Dorian in his efforts to unravel the true powers behind the revolution.
Aside from a single-player mode, the game will also have a multiplayer story co-op mode where up to four players can take part in story missions, as well as explore the open world.
Gameplay for Unity is still pretty much the same with the previous title Black Flag but a number of things were changed and overhauled. Combat for one was rebuilt that uses the fencing feature as the new combat system.
The game brings back most of the weapons from the previous games but introduces a new one in Unity, the Phantom Blade. The weapon is essentially a Hidden Blade that uses the mechanics of a wrist crossbow to fire a silent projectile through great distances.
Navigation was also changed, with new "Parkour Up" and "Parkour Down" mechanics to make it easier for the player to navigate through buildings. The main character, Arno, also learns new parkour moves throughout the game but some moves can be purchased.
In cooperative multiplayer, players can go inside a tavern where they can see any friends that are currently playing the game. If the player is currently in a mission, they will appear as a ghost where others can opt to join the mission from there.
When joining, the player who owns the mission and any player who joins in will be reset to the nearest checkpoint and continue from there. Also, the player who owns the mission will be playing as Arno while the rest will be seen as randomly generated assassins.
