"When Google launches a new Android version, it will take a while before we update our customers spread. We are currently working on the development of Android 4.2 for our tablets. The update will naturally follow and you get an automatic notification on your tablet if it is available," said Asus in a statement.

The update has yet to roll out for many of the older, popular smartphones, but new ROMs have been released which can allow users to experience the new build on their devices.

The Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.2.2, JellyBean update is also now available through a new ROM called SlimBean.

This is the second build of the ROM and it brings many of the features found in JellyBean 4.2.2 to the flagship smartphone. It also fixes some bugs and optimizes the overall performance of the device.

New features available with the SlimBean ROM include TheRealDarkSlim Toggle, a Shiny new SlimSizer, extended quicksettings style options, new notification and lockscreen shortcut icons, configurable QS long press, NFC polling mode, fullscreen toggle, and the ability to customize charging battery color.

The ROM also fixes bugs including the Navbar back/menu firing after longpress actions, the NavBar "kill app" action killing system apps and crashing system. It also improves HTML5 audio playback and fixes the BT tethering label.
