Asus ZenFone 2 Laser Specs & Update: Smartphone Arrives in U.S., Features Laser Auto-Focus Technology
Taiwanese tech giant Asus is proud to announce that their new variant of the ZenFone 2 has now reached the west coast. According to Slash Gear, the variant called the ZenFone 2 Laser is now available in the United States for a starting price of $199. Apparently, it's slightly cheaper and less powerful than the ZenFone 2 but it comes along with its own unique specs that are worth checking out.
Tech Times detailed that the ZenFone 2 Laser is the latest addition to the ZenFone 2 lineup. But the one that will be arriving in the U.S. isn't the same as those that have been released internationally. The device coming will carry the model number ZE551KL, the newest one among the four model versions that were already available.
In terms of specification, 9to5 Google noted that the handset will come with 5.5-inch IPS 1080x1920 with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for protection. Under its hood will be a 64-bit Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor coupled with Adreno 405 graphics and 3GB RAM.
Memory storage capacity options include 16 GB and 32 GB which can also be expanded up to 128 GB via microSD card. It will come with Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box and will be powered with a 3,000 mAh battery for all-day use.
The name of the device is actually derived from its upgraded camera. The Asus Zenfone 2 Laser sports an enhanced PixelMaster 2.0 camera that features laser auto-focus technology for producing very sharp images. The 13-megapixel rear camera comes with a wide-angle F/2.0 aperture lens and a dual LED real tone flash. Meanwhile, the front camera is 5-megapixels.
The handset will also feature a dual active SIM so that users can be permitted to switch between networks for LTE connectivity. With 16 GB costing $199, the ZenFone 2 Laser will cost $249 for the 32 GB. It can be purchased via the Asus Store or through retailer Newegg.
