Asus Zenfone 3 Go Specs Revealed

With all the premium phones vying for attention at the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017, Asus looks to appeal to the budget crowd with the rumored announcement of the Zenfone 3 Go.

Gadgets 360 reports on a leak intercepted by Italian technology site Notebook Italia, and it's a good overview of the possible specifications for the budget smartphone. The image shows the Asus Zenfone 3 Go in what looks like a metal body, in a variety of colors including black, pink, gold and white.

The leaked specifications point to a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 system on chip (SoC) core that powers the device. This chip is a 28 nm design with a quad-core 64-bit processor. It supports Quick Charge 2.0, Long-Term Evolution (LTE) 4 and dual SIM. The SoC includes an Adreno 306 graphics processing unit (GPU) that can drive a high-definition (HD) display.

Asus reportedly equipped the Snapdragon 410 with 2 GB of memory and 16 GB of built-in storage as well.

In a departure from the previous Asus Zenfone design, the camera and flash unit are now placed on an upper corner at the back. The camera lens also looks to be much smaller than the one on the current model. The Zenfone 3 Go is reported to carry a 13-megapixel (MP) rear camera, and a 5 MP front camera with a soft light-emitting diode (LED) flash for a more flattering selfie shot.

The front has capacitative buttons, and nothing else on the front or the back — a fingerprint scanner is nowhere to be seen on this device. The display is rumored to be a 5-inch HD display with a modest 720 x 1,280 pixel resolution.

The budget phone is reported to come with dual Micro-Electromechanical Systems (MEMS) microphones and five-magnet speakers. A removable 2,600 mAh battery and a custom Android 6.0 Marshmallow system called ZenUI rounds up the phone's specs.

Also indicated in the link is Asus' Beautification technology, adapted for Facebook Live and YouTube streams. Beautification Mode is Asus' post-processing technology that can add blush, smooth skin and enhance eyes of the subject in a photo or video.

With a possible price of $160, the Zenfone 3 Go looks to position itself as an up-to-date budget phone for social media and video streaming use. Asus fans can look to Feb. 27, the date for the MWC 2017, for the official details.
