Asus Zenfone 5 Specs, Release Date: Flagship to Arrive Only 6 Months After Predecessor's Unveiling?
Just days after the unveiling of the Asus Zenfone 4, the Taiwanese tech firm is already diving back to the drawing board to work on its next-generation flagship.
A report by Digitimes claims that the company will not wait for a whole year to launch the Asus Zenfone 5 and will introduce their next big smartphone offering March next year at the earliest.
This significantly shortens the amount of time for the newly unveiled Asus Zenfone 4 to shine, especially with the device's availability not set until November.
However, Asus CEO Jerry Shen is confident that the Asus Zenfone 5 predecessor will do great, especially in France, Italy, Spain and Russia, where they saw an improved sales performance for the Asus Zenfone 3 from last year.
Asus is also doubling down on its efforts to expand in Europe mostly by teaming up with carriers in the region to reach more users.
The executive believes that with the "improving operating efficiency" of the tech firm, which underwent tremendous streamlining in the past months, plus the rising average sales price of the Asus Zenfone 4, the company should be back to profitability by the fourth quarter of the year.
Shen also went so far as to say that Asus is on its way to becoming "one of the profitable seven smartphone vendors globally" by the third quarter of next year.
As for what the Asus Zenfone 5 will have to offer, it is too early to talk about that yet. With the bezel-less design trend sweeping the mobile scene, however, fans of the company hope that Asus will join the craze.
For now, fans can check out the Asus Zenfone 4 series, which features a total of five models namely the top of the line model the Asus ZenFone 4 Pro, the midrangers ZenFone 4 and ZenFone 4 Selfie Pro and the budget-friendly iterations ZenFone 4 Selfie and ZenFone 4 Max.
