Asus Zenfone Rumors, Specs: Unkonwn Zenfone Smartphone Shows Up in TENAA Listing
Following the success of the ZenFone series last year, and the Zenfone 2 lineup of smartphones this year, Asus is now trying to launch another budget offering for the Chinese market.
According to a report by GSM Arena, an unknown Asus device has just surfaced on China's certification website TENAA.
Dubbed as Asus_Z00TDA, the smartphone has passed the certification agency, which means it could be announced in the country any time soon. Based on the listing, the device boasts a 5.5-inch display with Full HD (1920 x 1080) resolution, an unknown octa-core CPU, 2GB of RAM, and a 16GB built-in memory.

Right now, there aren't no indications which chipset Asus used for the handset, although a good guess could be a MediaTek chipset variant.
Other alleged specs that appeared on TENAA include a 13MP primary camera, 5MP selfie shooter, Android 5.0.2 Lollipop out of the box, and a microSD card slot that can handle up to 32GB of extra storage.
In addition, the Zenfone device also supports the usual connectivity features such as the 4G LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth.
Considering the specs sheet of the Asus Zenfone device, this smartphone could be a direct contender of the newly released Xiaomi Redmi Note 2. However, the Asus price tag is allegedly in the sub-$100 range, so it gives the Taiwanese manufacturer an advantage over Xiaomi's new midranger whose pricing begins at $152.
In a recent report, the Redmi Note is definitely the smartphone to beat right now in China after reportedly selling 800,000 units in just 12 hours.
Another potential rival for the mysterious Asus device is the still unannounced Huawei Mate 7S, which boasts similar specs - phablet-like screen with 1080p resolution, although it has better camera (20MP vs. 13MP), and higher RAM (3GB vs. 2GB).
