At Least 35,000 Expected at AFM Conference in Zimbabwe
Locals sources report that at least 35,000 Christians belonging to the Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe Church (AFM) are expected to attend the annual conference this weekend.
The Apostolic Faith Mission in Zimbabwe Church (AFM), arguably the largest Pentecostal denomination in Zimbabwe, will hold its annual conference at its Rufaro Conference Center near Chatsworth this weekend.
According to reports made by local sources, at least 35,000 followers from all over the country are expected to converge at the center, about 70 km (43 miles) northeast of Masvingo, AFM national president Pastor Aspha Madziire, said in an interview yesterday.
The conference starts on Thursday and ends on Sunday, but "prayer warriors" and retired overseers arrived at the center on Monday to pray for a successful conference.

Madziire said the theme of the conference is "The Power and Authority of the Word of God," drawn from the book of Hebrews 4 verse 12.
Local senior speakers lined up to deliver sermons include Pastor Madziire himself, his deputy, Pastor Cosam Chiyangwa, and AFM International vice-president, Dr Constantine Murefu.
Pastor Madziire said the conference would set aside time to pray for the economic revival and prosperity of the country, drawing from the book of 2 Chronicles 7 vs 13 in the Bible where God declares: "If My people, which are called by My name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways; then I will hear from heaven, and will heal their land."
The conference's major aim is to lift followers spiritually.
Workshops to discuss issues such as the HIV/Aids pandemic, healthy marriages, and peer education targeted at youths, will be run during the conference.
