Real Madrid vs Athletic Bilbao Live Stream: Watch Spanish La Liga Soccer Online
Athletic Bilbao will try to make the race to the La Liga title more interesting as they host Real Madrid at San Mames Barria.
Madrid currently sit atop the league with 61 points, holding a two-point lead over fierce rivals Barcelona.
However, they missed out on extending their lead in their last La Liga match against Villarreal, where they settled for a 1-1 draw at the Santiago Bernabeu.
In the match, Madrid dominated possession, holding the ball 61 percent of the time, and also firing 22 total shots, though only eight were on target.
Despite the dominance, they were unable to beat the Villarreal defense and the only breakthrough they got was from Cristiano Ronaldo's penalty kick in the 52nd minute. Unfortunately, they could not hold on to the lead as they allowed Gerard Moreno to score after 12 minutes.
With the draw, and Barcelona's victory over Granada, Madrid now an uncomfortable lead heading into the closing stages of the season.
Bilbao are 10th in the league and are 15 points behind for the UEFA Europa League spot. They have only lost once in their last six league matches and have won their last two.
Despite the positive run of form, Bilbao have found it tough to get results when playing as hosts. Prior to their 1-0 home win over Rayo Vallecano, they have failed to win in their last five matches as hosts.
Adruiz is the only reliable goal scorer for the team, with nine so far this season, while the next closest is defender Mikel San Jose with three.
In their first meeting of the season, Madrid comfortably won 5-0 – behind a hat trick from Ronaldo and a brace from Karim Benzema. The lopsided affair was a result of excellent execution from Madrid, and winning the battle in the middle of the pitch.
