Atlanta Falcons Rumors: Tanoh Kpassagnon Intrigues Coach Quinn
Defensive lineman prospect Tanoh Kpassagnon has been getting a lot of attention from National Football League (NFL) teams lately. At 6-foot-7-inches and 289 pounds, Kpassagnon is a physical specimen. He's raw right now and will need time to develop, but he does have a lot of upside and potential.
Right now, the Atlanta Falcons want to add a pass rusher to compliment Vic Beasley and head coach Dan Quinn seems to find Kpassagnon intriguing.
"He did a fantastic job out in Indy. I think he's really ascending. And he's a cool guy. He's going to do well, because it's in his mindset to do well. He's not kidding himself or laughing about it. He's not kidding himself that he's got work to do," Quinn said, according to ESPN.
Kpassagnon impressed a lot of people at the scouting combine last month in Indianapolis, Indiana and his draft stock has been rising steadily since then. According to CBS Sports, the defensive end will land somewhere between the third and fourth round in the draft, and ESPN's Todd McShay believes he's going to be a third-rounder.
The Falcons have the 95th and 136th overall picks in the draft and they can use either one to select Kpassagnon. However, it's also possible that he may get selected in the second round and the Falcons may have to use the 63rd overall pick to draft him.
The team also owns the 31st overall pick, but they are unlikely to use it on a raw player like Kpassagnon unless his stock continues to rise in the weeks leading to the draft.
Meanwhile, the Falcons have already conducted a private workout with Kpassagnon and he seemed to enjoy his meeting with Quinn.
"Well, it was awesome to have such a defensive genius say good things about you. But what impressed me the most was how real and honest he was. And just how helpful he was by telling me what to expect through the whole process," Kpassagnon stated, according to ESPN.
