'Attack on Titan' Season 2: Horde of Titans Bears Down on Wall Rose in New Teaser Trailer

Fans had to wait four years for the popular anime series "Attack on Titan" to return on the air for its second season. Now that it's finally almost here, what surprising twists and turns will it put its characters through as the shocking secrets of the walls are revealed?

The latest teaser trailer for the upcoming installment hints at the fall of the Wall Rose, which had previously been patched up by main protagonist Eren in his Titan form. Could this also be the same wall inside which a slumbering Titan was revealed at the end of season 1? It seems that despite their efforts not to let the sun's rays touch the exposed face of the Titan, they will ultimately fail and will thus be unable to keep the slumbering Titan inside the wall from waking up.

Is the total annihilation of humanity imminent? Or will the breaching of Wall Rose reveal the most unlikely allies?

Meanwhile, following his victory against the Female Titan, who turned out to be his fellow cadet Annie in her Titan form, Eren will continue fighting on the side of humans, using his transformative powers to fight off the horde of Titans threatening to bring Wall Rose down. But although Eren does have a role to play in humanity's defense, the character's voice actor, Yuki Kaji, recently revealed in an interview clip posted by ANIPLUS Asia that Eren will not be playing as much of a role as his comrades in the anime's second season.

"While Eren is still the protagonist, of course, other characters get the spotlight, and their drama forms the backbone here... It's heated in a way that affects the brain and not the heart," Kaji shared.

The anime has also been turned over to the able hands of a new director for this season, Masashi Koizuka. He revealed that the spotlight will likely be turned on Krista and Ymir, who will find themselves at the core of the impending chaos. Other previously sidelined members of the Survey Corps can also be expected to rise in prominence as humanity's fight for survival against the merciless Titans continues.

"Attack on Titans" season 2 will premiere on Saturday, April 1 in Japan on various television networks as well as on the online streaming site, Funimation.
