Fans of the popular Japanese anime series, "Attack on Titan" -- "Shingeki no Kyojin" in Japanese -- have been watchful of the Internet news about Season 2 of their favorite anime series. However, it is still unclear when the second season will premiere.
The season is not slated to begin production until enough material from the manga series is enough to make a second season. There are reports that production will begin when Volume 15 of the manga has been released, which is sometime in December later this year. However, there are some rumors that production has already begun.

While waiting for the Season 2 release, two theatrical compilation films is scheduled to be released alongside Volumes 15 and 16 of the manga series. The first film will be "Attack on Titan: Crimson Bow and Arrow" to be released on Dec. 9 later this year and will comprise of the first 13 episodes of the first season of the anime.
The second film will be "Attack on Titan: Wings of Freedom" to be released on April next year and will comprise of the final 12 episodes of the first anime season.
A spin-off of the anime is slated for release sometime before the release of the second season and will be called "Attack on Titan: No Regrets, Birth of Levi." The spin-off will be revolving around the character Levi Ackerman and his backstory before he meets Eren Yeager and Mikasa Ackerman in the Recon Corps.
