'Attack on Titan' Season 2 to Come Out in 2016?
There have been no reports yet on the release of the second season of "Attack on Titan," but it hasn't stopped fans from trying to figure out when it's coming out, with the more optimistic reports pointing at a possible 2016 release.
"Attack on Titan" or known in Japan as "Shingeki no Kyojin" was based on the mange of the same name by Hajime Isayama. The anime series was released in 2013 under Wit Studios. It tells the story of a world where humans live inside walled cities hiding from humanoid creatures called Titans.
The anime was well-received in Japan and internationally, but despite requests for more, Wit Studios has yet to announce any plans to follow up the first season.
An announcement did come from the director and actors of the "Attack on Titan: Crimson Bow and Arrow." Yuki Kaji, Marino Inoue and Yui Ishikawa, as well as Director Tetsuro Araki shared that the release date for the season is set for 2016.
Wit Studios didn't confirm the claim though, but it still bodes well for the future of the anime.
Also, Isayama and publisher Kodansha Comics are still busy with spinoff mangas.
Last week they announced a number of manga licenses which will come out on the latter half of the year, the "The Science of Attack on Titan" and "The Attack on Titan Colossal Edition, Vol. 2."
"The Science of Attack on Titan" by Rikao Yanagita gives fans and readers an in-depth look at the walled city in the series, how they were built and an explanation of the structures, as well as more information about the Titans.
"The Attack on Titan Colossal Edition, Vol. 2" on the other hand, is a collection of volumes six to 10 of the manga, following after the deluxe hardback edition first volume released last year.
Fans are optimistic though that after this year's activities are done, Wit Studios and Isayama can get a second season going in time for 2016.
