September Equinox 2014: Date and Time for Autumnal Equinox - A Good Time to Regain Balance

The Autumn equinox is a time of the year when the Earth's northern hemisphere experiences day and night of equal duration since the sun is shining directly on the equator. From there, night gradually becomes longer than the day. Usually, this happens during the 22nd, 23rd, or the 24th of September each year and for 2014, the equinox occurred on Sept. 23.

For the southern hemisphere, it is called a Spring equinox.

People use the day of the Autumnal equinox to run celebrations or spend the day in balancing out their lives from the usual hustle and bustle of work or from negative productivity. Forbes posted an article about finding balance between work and life in celebration of the equinox.

Finding balance is no easy task, however, as people often misalign their priorities between overworking and wasting time doing nothing. In order to balance everything out, people would need to be flexible and have to keep re-aligning and re-adjusting one's priorities in life.

Frances Booth, the author of the article, further states the difficulty of finding balance in the digital world especially since distractions are always abound and focus can easily shift.

One step to getting back into balance is admitting that we can sometimes lose focus and fall out of balance. Once one has admitted to have gone out of balance, a solution can be worked on to achieve the balance again.

Booth writes that if anyone should be looking for balance again, the time of the Autumn equinox is a good time to start.
