'Avatar 2' News: Comic Book Series to Show Details of the Upcoming Movie?

As fans of Pandora continue to painfully wait for the sequel to "Avatar," James Cameron says a new comic book series is in the works, which is rumored to pave the way for the story line of the second installment in the franchise.

According to Entertainment Weekly, James Cameron and Dark Horse Comics officially announced during the New York Comic-Con that they will be providing fans with another look at Neytiri and her adventures in a new comic book series.

Cameron said in a recorded video that the series will be looking into the events of the past and present of what fans saw in the original "Avatar" film. The most exciting part of Cameron's message to fans is his declaration that the comic books will also be featuring events that occurred "after" the movie.

"I'm excited that starting now...Dark Horse Comics will be bringing you new adventures from Pandora, covering the time before, during, and after the events of the original Avatar film," he said.

His statements raised speculation that the graphic version of "Avatar" may reveal a lot of what fans should expect in the sequel. Some fans immediately applauded the idea of getting a first look at the sequel through the comic books, while some raised flags for a spoiler alert.

Inquisitr further added to the fans' excitement when it reported that the comic book version may possibly tease the return of Colonel Quatrich and his team of villains, who will once again raise chaos in Pandora's world. The outlet added that it could reveal how the Na'vi tried to live on following the attacks on their habitat.

Meanwhile, rumor has it that the sequel will most probably see the return of voice actors Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldana, Stephen Lang, and Sigourney Weaver. It has not been confirmed by Cameron's team, but fans and critics alike believe it would be great to see the stars come back for the sequel.

"Avatar" 2 is expected to release on December 2017.
