'Avatar 2' News: On the Young and Old Cast Members and the Release Date for the Upcoming Sequels
Considering the success of the first installment titled, "Avatar," many fans were clamoring to have a follow up on the universe that they were introduced to. It features unforgettable visuals, as well as a plotline that is stark enough to be remembered years after it was first released.
Recent reports have revealed that the crew behind the sequel of "Avatar has announced that filming has finally begun, and they have released a video that features the new cast.
According to Deadline, not only did production start last Sept. 25, but Giovanini Ribisi is also set to return for the next four sequels of "Avatar." He will reprise his role as Parker Selfridge, who is the head administrator of the RDA.
Furthermore, director James Cameron returned to head the projects, and he and Jon Landau will be producing the upcoming sequels. Cameron also worked hard on the script, and fans would not have it any other way considering the masterpiece he created in the first installment.
Meanwhile, Cameron has also added a group of young actors to portray the offspring of Jake (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldana). Given that it might prove to be difficult for them to immediately start filming a motion-capture role right off the bat, Landau took the kids to a Pandora-themed park at Walt Disney World.
They were allowed to get a general feel of the environment, as well as drink the sights in before applying what they learned and imagining the universe when filming their scenes begin.
The "Avatar" sequel has been a long time coming, especially since the first installment was released back in 2009. Eight years later, Cameron is expected to bring another box office hit, with "Avatar 2" set to land in theaters on Dec. 18, 2020, "Avatar 3" on Dec. 17, 2021, "Avatar 4" on Dec. 20, 2024, and "Avatar 5" on Dec. 19, 2025.
