'Avatar 2' plot news and release date: Franchise will launch a theme park attraction
The upcoming sequel for the hit film "Avatar" will be receiving its own attraction in Animal Kingdom, located in Florida.
It was announced during Disney's annual D23 Expo that an Avatar-themed land will be launched in Florida, which will be called "Pandora: World of Avatar." The launching of the attraction will take place before the showing of "Avatar 2."
The upcoming attraction is expected to have several features such as the Sunset Kilimanjaro Safari. The safari will allow guests to explore the savannah with a sunset. It will have many wild animals for guests to view.
It was previously announced that Avatar 2 will release by 2016. However, it was confirmed that the film will premiere later than expected due to director James Cameron's experimentation with advanced technology. Cameron is taking his time to develop a new motion capture technology that will enhance underwater scenes. This will allow for higher frame rates and high-quality visuals. Cameron is not pressed for time concerning the upcoming film, as he is decided to focus on the quality of the movie.
Along with Avatar 2, Cameron and his production team will be working on the film's successors. It was reported that "Avatar 3" and "Avatar 4" are already in progress. Rumors stated that Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 will take place in the ocean of Pandora.
According to ScreenRant, Cameron addressed the rumors by saying, "It's all the scuba diving I did before I even started the deep ocean stuff that has more of a direct connection to Avatar 2 & 3, which by the way won't take place completely in or under the water. That's just part of the environment of Pandora that we're going to see." He did confirm that they are simultaneously writing the three sequels, in order for it to parallel with its aesthetics.
Avatar 2 is expected to premiere in December 2017. Avatar 3 will follow the year, after while Avatar 4 is expected to release a year after that.
