'Avengers 2: Age of Ultron' News: New Characters Join Cast for the Avengers
More characters have been confirmed to appear in the upcoming sequel to "The Avengers," according to reports.
Earlier this year, it has been confirmed that Paul Bettany will be playing the part of The Vision in "Avengers 2: Age of Ultron." A poster of Bettany in character was revealed at Comic-Con in San Diego, which features the actor in a flowing yellow cape. It is reported that Vision was created by Ultron, and in the film he has the power to manipulate his density.
Elizabeth Olsen will be playing the part of Scarlet Witch. Her character was revealed at the end of "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" where she was seen making some blocks float on air.
Meanwhile, James Spader will be playing Ultron. Entertainment Weekly reports that Ultron is an Artificial Intelligence, and "his superior intellect quickly determines that life on Earth would go on a lot smoother if he just got rid of Public Enemy No. 1: Human beings." Ultron was created by Tony Stark.
The character of Baron Wolfgang von Strucker will be played by Thomas Kretschmann. The Baron is said to be the modern-day leader of Hydra. He was also seen at the end of "The Winter Soldier" while he held Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver captive, and he is seen to be in possession of Loki's staff — the very same one that enabled Loki to control Hawkeye's mind in the first movie.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the opening sequence could feature the Avengers breaking into the Hydra compound to save Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver and retrieving Loki's staff.
"Avengers 2: Age of Ultron" will premiere on May 1, 2015.
