'Avengers 4' News, Release Date: Hayley Atwell's New Image Hints at Peggy Carter's Return?
An image of "Captain America: The First Avenger" star Hayley Atwell has recently surfaced online and sparked speculations of her possible appearance in the upcoming "Avengers 4" film.
Although it was already revealed in "Captain America: Civil War" that Atwell's Peggy Carter had already died in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, many believe that her appearance in the next "Avengers" film is not a totally impossible idea as there are still plenty of opportunities for the character to return.
The principal photography for "Avengers 4" is currently underway in Atlanta, Georgia, and some set-based photographers have already revealed in the past weeks some tiny details about the upcoming film which will cap off the third phase of the MCU.
While teaser images were usually shared by the photographers behind the filming, a recent picture that was posted on Atwell's official Instagram account sparked speculations that it could have been taken from the set of "Avengers 4."
In the photo, Atwell was shown with facial tracking dots. These are normally used for motion-capture, as well as for computer-generated processes. The multiple trackers on her face made fans assume that the upcoming "Avengers 4" flick would see the return of an older Peggy Carter, who, in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier," was brought to life through prosthetics and visual effects.
There were also speculations that the image was taken on the set of "Avengers: Infinity War." A few days ago, another casting call for '60s secretaries and engineers emerged online, hinting at a flashback or time-traveling scene in the upcoming film. This led some fans to believe that the said sequence might be a perfect opportunity to bring Atwell's character back.
However, it has since been confirmed by Atwell herself that the photo was not from either of the two "Avengers" films but was instead from the set of "Christopher Robin," a movie the actress is currently starring in.
Meanwhile, "Avengers: Infinity War" is set for release on May 4, 2018, while "Avengers 4" will hit theaters in 2019.
