'Avengers: Age of Ultron' DVD and Blue-Ray Release to Include Alternate Ending
Reports have emerged "Avengers: Age of Ultron" will have an extended version depicting an alternate ending to the film.
Blue-ray and DVD released of "Avengers: Age of Ultron" will have an alternate version of the film's ending, featuring extended footage that won't be shown in theaters when it opens May 1.
ScreenCrush reports an email from Amazon.co.uk sent to a number of customers encouraging pre-orders of the "Avengers: Age of Ultron" DVD and Blue-ray discs, have stated there will be "an extended version and alternate ending" for the film.
While no news is yet forthcoming as to what kind of changes the extended scenes on the home video release will be about, director Joss Whedon has previously been quoted on Vulture as saying the movie's original cut was three and a half hours long, which was eventually pared down to 142 minutes for the final film.
Speculations are rife the DVD and Blue-ray versions will contain scenes that were cut from the original movie, including footage of Elizabeth Olsen and Aaron Taylor-Johnson that weren't included in the theater version, as well as Hulk's fate at the end of the movie.
On the other hand, the alternate ending may refer to the end credits footage Whedon may have been referring to when he announced last month "Avengers: Age of Ultron" would not be going the traditional Marvel movie route of including an cutscene at the end of the credits to link the film to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or to introduce the next title in the franchise.
The extended version may also contain a much longer introduction of the new characters, and even upcoming characters who will be making their debut in "Captain America: Civil War" due out in May 6 next year.
"Avengers: Age of Ultron" in DVD and Blue-ray is now available for pre-order on Amazon, and may be given a December 2015 release.
