'Avengers: Age of Ultron' News: Disney/Marvel Releases Film's Official Synopsis
Disney/Marvel has released the official synopsis for "Avengers: Age of Ultron" the second installment in the Avengers movie.
The film is expected to be bigger than ever, with more characters and a new villain to boot. "The Blacklist" actor James Spader will be providing the voice of Ultron, whom he described as "an eight foot robot" when he recently appeared on the "Tonight Show" starring Jimmy Fallon.
"I'm Ultron, eight-foot robot," quips Spader as he talked about his experience at Comic-Con San Diego.
Other new additions to the cast are Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff and Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Pietro Maximoff, who will become part of the Avengers. The synopsis also confirms rumors that J.A.R.V.I.S., Iron Man's robotic assistant, will transform to become Vision, and will be played by Paul Bethany.
"When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth's Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow, and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to The Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and a unique global adventure," the synopsis reads.
"Avengers: Age of Ultron" sees the return of Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/ Iron Man, Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, and Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill.
"Avengers: Age of Ultron" will premiere on May 1, 2015.
