'Avengers: Infinity War' News, Release Date: Benedict Cumberbatch Teases Huge Storylines
With the production for "Avengers: Infinity War" nearing completion, fans of the "Avengers" franchise wonder what is in store for the Marvel superheroes when the movie hits theaters next year. Recently, actor Benedict Cumberbatch dropped yet another teaser for the upcoming movie, hinting at "huge" and "cool" storylines.
In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Cumberbatch plays Doctor Strange, a former neurosurgeon who met a car accident and eventually became a very powerful sorcerer who will be part of the "Infinity War." The actor recently talked about the sequel at a recent press event and had nothing but good words to say about the upcoming "Avengers" movie.
"It's ten years coming," Cumberbatch said as he described the movie to Digital Spy. "It's just huge, huge amount of work, huge amount of storylines and it's all sort of pointing to this confrontation."
He added: "It's amazing to be part of it even though I'm late to the party, it's very cool one to be part of it."
"Avengers: Infinity War" will serve as the third "Avengers" movie, following 2012's "The Avengers" and 2015's "Avengers: Age of Ultron." The movie will see the coming together of some of the most famous characters in the MCU.
Meanwhile, Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange became part of the "Avengers" franchise in 2016 with his standalone movie. Since his debut, however, the powerful sorcerer has stayed isolated from the rest of the superheroes.
Recently, Marvel president Kevin Feige revealed that Doctor Strange will become part of the mighty team and explained why Cumberbatch's character previously had to keep himself away from the others.
According to Feige, Doctor Strange had to deal with some bigger issues than what the other members of the squad were facing. "There are people inhabiting the same world that are stopping buildings from falling down, robots from doing this, aliens from doing that—these people in this movie are stopping inter-dimensional forces from wiping out all of reality," he said in an interview with Collider.
"Avengers: Infinity War" will open in U.S. theaters on May 4, 2018.
