Baby Lisa Irwin Missing: Handyman's Ex Went Into 'Panic Mode' Over Mysterious Call

Police Question Megan Wright Concerning Suspicious Phone Call

Megan Wright recently took to Facebook to express her confusion and grief after investigators questioned her concerning the disappearance of baby Lisa Irwin.

In a six-hour interview Oct. 8, investigators interviewed 20-year-old Wright whose cell phone was called the night Lisa went missing from her Kansas City home.

Lisa's father, Jeremy Irwin, was out on a late call doing electrical work for a local Starbucks when his daughter disappeared during the early morning hours of Oct. 4. When he returned from work roughly around 4 a.m., he reported several lights on, the front door unlocked, three missing cell phones and a tampered screen window.

Upon checking his daughter’s crib, Irwin realized Lisa was missing. Lisa’s parents told authorities their daughter was snatched from her crib in Kansas City on Oct. 4.

Records show Wright received a 50-second cellphone call from one of the phones stolen from the Irwin home.

“When the police first told me that the Irwin's phone [never specified if it was Deborah's or another family member's number] was the number that had called me, I went into panic mode,” wrote Wright in a private Facebook message to The Examiner.

Wright affirmed that during the time of the call, her phone was not on her person. She told authorities that her phone was upstairs while she spent time with friends in her basement.

Two other families, totaling five adults and three kids, occupy her house. Wright told authorities that any of these adults might have used her phone the night of Lisa’s disappearance.

“I don't know what was said, or who called, or who answered my phone,” she told KCTV5.

Wright claims to have never met baby Lisa or her family, although she has walked up their street in the past. She created her a Facebook page, titled “Megan Wright, Q&A Baby Lisa,” to answer questions concerning her involvement with the child’s disappearance.

Wright is suspected to have been in a relationship with a transient named “Jersey,” who routinely did repair work on the Irwin’s street.

A neighbor to the Irwin family, Mary Hurt, told CNN’s Nancy Grace that she thought Jersey was “shady.”

Many speculate Jersey had close ties with one of the men likely to have Wright’s cellphone the night of the child’s disappearance.

“I do believe that he had my phone all night. But other than that, I'm not sure. Just because he had my phone doesn't make him guilty of anything,” Wright wrote on Facebook regarding the man who may have had her cellphone the night Lisa disappeared.

Investigators reported that Jersey has cooperated with their questioning. He is currently in prison on an unrelated burglary charge.

“We're satisfied at the moment and we're moving on. That's not to say something may change later where we would like to speak to [him] again. That's why I'm staying away from the word 'cleared.' Really, truly, the investigation is wide open. We aren't ruling anything out yet,” said Kansas City spokesperson Steve Young to People Magazine regarding Jersey.

Baby Lisa’s case entered its one-month anniversary on Nov. 4. Police have said they plan to pursue new leads in the mystery as Lisa’s first birthday approaches on Friday.
