Baby Lisa Irwin Missing: No Interviews With Brothers Scheduled, Kansas Police Say
Reports surfaced yesterday that baby Lisa's brothers would be interviewed by authorities sometime this week are false, according to Kansas City police Capt. Steve Young in an email to the Examiner.
Baby Lisa's brothers were interviewed just after she disappeared, but police want to hold another interview to take DNA samples.
The brothers, ages 5 and 8, were scheduled for their second interviews two weeks ago, but the family's attorney cancelled to protect the children from the media.
The family's attorney, Joe Tacopina, said early last week the interviews would eventually be rescheduled.
Young also said police still have not confirmed any suspects in the case. He also said the reported sightings of a man walking with a baby on a surveillance video the night Lisa disappeared has not led authorities anywhere.
Young was asked whether he was still searching for a live baby Lisa, and he responded: "We're looking for everything.”
Lisa went missing from her Missouri home Oct. 4. Her case has received national attention due to the strange events that took place the night she disappeared.
Lisa's mother, Deborah Bradley, admitted that she fell asleep drunk the night the baby vanished. Lisa's father, Jeremy Irwin, worked an unusual night shift and did not return home until 4 a.m. He noticed his daughter was not in her crib and called the authorities.
Lisa's first birthday is on Friday and her grandfather, David Netz Jr. told the Kansas City Star Monday it will be an emotional time for the family.
"That's gonna be the oh-my-God moment,” said Netz.
"I can't even imagine what that day will be like. What will we do? How will we get through that? I don't even know how to ask Debbie and Jeremy what we should do or how to help them through that," he added.
Volunteers in the neighborhood held a search for Lisa over the weekend but did not find any clues as to her whereabouts.
Police have been conducting interviews all month and have searched the entire Irwin home as well as surrounding areas to find her.
