Baby Lisa Irwin Missing: Supporters Bake Birthday Cakes for Baby Lisa's 1st Birthday
Kansas City, Mo., Girl Missing for Nearly 2 Months
Missing baby Lisa Irwin's first birthday was celebrated by dozens of well wishers who posted pictures of homemade cakes on Facebook for the little girl last Friday.
Elaborate cakes with "Lisa" swirled out in pink icing with sprinkles and candy hearts popped up on Facebook from all users in various parts of the United States. The pictures were uploaded to the Facebook group "Lisa Irwin: Kidnapped from Kansas City, Missouri on 10/04/2011," which has more than 26,000 likes.
One maker of a professional looking cake commented, "Happy birthday baby girl from the Rankins…where ever you are God is celebrating too =) Wish you safe and sound. With Love, Mary."
One supporter posted: "We sang you the Happy Birthday Song, and lit your Birthday Candle on your own piece of cake with your name on it…we are leaving it lit to burn for you."
According to their Kansas City lawyer, baby Lisa's birthday was a "tough day for" parents Jeremy Irwin and Debbie Bradley. The cakes specially made for their daughter reportedly cheered up the couple.
According to the Daily Mail, the baby Lisa baked good gesture was happening online as the parents of Lisa Irwin had a private meeting and their lawyer confirmed that there are no plans to let police interview the couple separately after what he called "nasty" questioning.
Family attorney John Picerno restating that Irwin and Bradley would not be questioned separately, saying he did not want them to be "subject to interrogation techniques," as reported by Daily Mail.
Local authorities have said in the past that the parents have felt to be 100 percent open since baby Lisa's disappearance on Oct. 4. Irwin and Bradley have not been interviewed separately since Oct. 8.
The Facebook group "Lisa Irwin: Kidnapped from Kansas City, Missouri on 10/04/2011" purpose is to "provide flyer downloads, pictures of Lisa, keep people updated on Lisa's disappearance by providing media links, and help to spread the word about Lisa’s disappearance in hopes she will be located and returned to her family."
A full investigation by Kansas City police into the little girl's disappearance is still underway.
