'Bachelorette' 2012 Emily Maynard Dumped by First Choice, Winner Chosen By Default?
Emily Maynard was reportedly dumped by the man that she chose during ABC's "The Bachelorette" season finale, and subsequently chose the second finalist by default, it has been revealed.
On the highly anticipated and dramatic season finale, airing July 22, the 26-year-old is left in tears after the man that she picks rejects her at the last minute, according to In Touch Weekly.
"He said, 'I don't think we know each other nearly enough to even be entertaining this; I don't think we should get engaged,'" an insider told In Touch.
"She was crying and begging him to reconsider," the source said, adding that Maynard even blurted out "You're the one I want to pick!"
Maynard, a single mom, has narrowed down the choice to two finalists: race car driver Arie Luyendyk Jr., 30, and entrepreneur Jef Holm, 27. New reports suggest that the winner was not her first choice.
"He won by default," the source said.
It is unclear whether the ABC network will allow the shocking twist to be played out on air or whether viewers will only see a heavily edited and altered version of events.
The spoiler alert follows reports that Maynard ends up alone because she is actually in love with the show's host Chris Harrison.
"The fact that I still don't know who the guy here is the one for me, makes me wonder if any guy here is for me," Maynard says in a preview clip. "I don't know where my heart is any more."
Later in the same preview, Maynard confides in Harrison, 40, and he suggests that she just be honest with both men.
"It sounds like you know what you need to do," Harrison tells Emily. "You feel like at this point you're betraying both of them."
Maynard and Harrison are said to be in constant contact via text and Twitter, and their close friendship has ignited rumors that they are romantically involved.
