'Bachelorette' Finale: Emily Maynard Chooses Jef Holm
It has been confirmed that "Bachelorette" Emily Maynard is engaged to contestant Jef Holm. In a surprising move, Maynard introduced Holm to her daughter, Ricki, during the last episode, and that is what sealed it, Maynard said.
"It went great. It was so easy. It just felt comfortable," Maynard told "Bachelorette" host Chris Harrison. "This just did it for me and pushed it over the edge."
When Holm and fellow contestant Arie met with Maynard's family, each brought something meaningful to the meeting. Arie brought a memento box filled with the roses Maynard had given him, while Holm brought flowers for Maynard's mother and sister.
He later used a conversation with Maynard's brother in his proposal. "I was talking to your brother a couple of days ago," he began. "He told me there were times when he thought you might give up on love."
"When the road was hard and tough. I want you to know that I'm so grateful that you didn't, and that you came here and that you put your heart on the line, and that you tried one more time… Because, I've found my everything," Holm concluded.
"I really do feel like you're my soul mate," Maynard said during the proposal. "You are the perfect person for me."
"I found my everything," Holm replied. "I'm so in love with you. I promise you, Emily, that if you let me into your life, and Ricki's life, you will never feel lonely again. And I love you so much."
She accepted the proposal, and now the couple could not be happier. It was a unique courtship for the two, and Maynard made it known throughout the competition that her daughter's happiness was what was most important. Ricki accompanied Maynard during her travels but was kept away from the contestants.
Fans, then, were surprised when Ricki appeared during the finale and was introduced to Holm. Perhaps then it was clear that Maynard had chosen her man.
