Bandai Namco Unveils First Look at 'Project Treasure'
Not much is known about the mysterious "Project Treasure" that is in development at Bandai Namco. The Nintendo Wii Exclusive was announced early this year during Nintendo's first Direct Broadcast for the year 2015. Katsuhiro Harada, who is also the creator of Tekken, made the announcement. This indicates that Harada is currently in charge of this special project.
One of the things that most people know is that the game is currently codenamed "Project Treasure" and will be free-to-play through the Nintendo Wii U eShop.
Recently, in another Nintendo Direct Broadcast, Bandai revealed a little bit more about the game through a short gameplay trailer, IGN reported. The trailer confirmed that the game will be a multiplayer co-op game, with players working together to complete stages by "disarming traps, routing enemies and nabbing treasure."
An earlier report in Eurogamer predicts that the game will only be playable when one is online, given its multiplayer, cooperative nature.
The trailer features four players as they go through ruins in search for treasure. They naturally encounter obstacles along the way: booby traps, mummies, zombies, giant spiders, among others. Each player is equipped with different types of weapons, which they use against enemies. Treasure is the group's final objective, and this is seen in the trailer being carried by one of the players.
The trailer also reveals that more information about the game is coming in the summer of 2015. The report speculates that Nintendo may opt for making the announcement during the upcoming E3. Nintendo is slated to hold its Annual Digital Event at the E3 2015.
Bandai Namco is a Japan-based arcade, mobile and home video game publisher. Aside from games, it also publishes video, music and other entertainment products related to its video game intellectual properties. The upcoming game is not an IP-based game, thus the free-to-play tag.
