Devastating floods in Thailand have left hundreds dead and tens of thousands homeless.

The flooding, which began in July, is blamed for more than 500 deaths, and displacing more than 100,000 people, flooding is also blamed for closing more than 1,000 factories and soaking at least 10 percent of the country’s farmland.

The government is engaged in a strenuous effort to assist its people in a recovery, following the worst flooding in 50 years.

Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra announced in a nationally televised address that the recovery program would include rescue, restore and rebuild stages.

The government will focus on immediate responses to the disaster, flood relief officials said. The first steps in the recovery process will include issuing loans and providing other financial assistance.

Shinawatra said the Thai government will work to restore international investors’ confidence and work to help those who experienced losses in the flooding, which includes small and medium-sized businesses

It is reported that at least 30 of the capital’s 50 districts have experienced massive flooding. It is estimated that more than 620,000 people may have to be provided with funding and other resources to deal with the widespread flooding.

The government has announced evacuation precautions for a number of areas where situations could pose a health risk for residence.
