Two children of a Southern Baptist couple stationed in the Middle East were killed Nov. 28 in an automobile accident at the Lebanon-Syria border, news agencies reported Tuesday.
According to the Baptist Press, the two children of Charles and Laurie McKenzie—Samuel, 7, and Abigail, 4—died when the brakes of a Jordanian truck failed causing it to slam into the minibus in which the family was waiting to cross the border. Also killed was McKenzie's mother, Patsy, who was visiting the family in the region. United Press International reported that the truck also hit into another car, killing two Jordanians.
The condition of the Southern Baptist couple was not available at press time.

Charles McKenzie, a native of Germantown, Tenn., is an English teacher in the Middle East. According to the UPI, McKenzie was teaching in a school in the northern Lebanese port city of Tripoli. He is a 1990 master of divinity graduate of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, Texas, and a 1986 graduate of Ouachita Baptist University in Arkadelphia, Ark.
