'Barbie' Movie Brings in Three More Writers
The upcoming "Barbie" movie by Sony has brought three writers to work on the project.
The popular toys will soon be hitting the big screen with the help of three writers, Bert Royal, Lindsay Beer, and Hilary Winston.
The additional three writers were instructed to write their own separate scripts from the upcoming live-action movie. The original draft of the upcoming film was made by Jenny Bicks, which was then picked up by Diablo Cody.
The selected writers have worked on several big projects. It was reported that Bicks had worked on the animated film "Rio 2." Meanwhile, Diablo Cody was most known for her involvement in the films "Juno" and "Young Adult." However, it was reported that the studio was not too happy with the outcome of those scripts.
As for the three new writers, it was said that Royal had worked on the comedy movie "Easy A," as well as "Recovery Road." On the other hand, Beer took part in the writing process of the "Transformers" movie. She specialized in finding a way to bring the well-known toys to life. Meanwhile, Winston is well known for her writing in several TV series such as "My Name is Earl," "Community," and "Dr. Ken."
It is evident that Sony is trying to continue their streak with the successful "The Lego Movie." With that, their scout for the best screenplay is on full blast. However, it was reported that the "Barbie" movie is not the only one toying with this type of writing process.
The upcoming film of the DC Cinematic Universe, "Aquaman," also turned to several writers for the script. The writers are also expected to produce their own separate scripts. This will give the studio more choices, which will lead to a better story.
"Barbie" the movie is expected to hit theaters by June 2017.
