'Basketball Wives' Star Gloria Govan Marries NBA Star Matt Barnes in Las Vegas
Vh1 star Gloria Govan and her Los Angeles Clippers star boyfriend Matt Barnes recently tied the knot in Las Vegas, according to reports.
The couple, who shares twin boys, reportedly were married at the Little Church of The West, a renowned wedding chapel, before family and friends on Sunday. They had celebrated her sister Laura's birthday just the night before, according to The Las Vegas Review-Journal.
Barnes, who was recently traded to the Clippers from the Los Angeles Lakers, invited some of his new team mates who witnessed both he and Govan, 27, exchange "I Dos."
The 32-year-old selected DeAndre Jordan as his best man, and other NBA stars including Chris Paul and Blake Griffin were reportedly present for the marriage ceremony.
The newlyweds were also seen at the marriage bureau on Monday, where they applied for a marriage license. Photos of the alleged license have since gone viral on various blogging sites.
The wedding celebration comes two years after the pair called off their initial engagement just days before their scheduled wedding.
Govan, who was once criticized for portraying her relationship with Barnes as perfect on "Basketball Wives," insisted that they had called off the wedding because they simply wanted to wait for some time. Govan's "Basketball Wives (Miami)" co-stars dismissed her explanation and suggested that there were actually underlying issues in her and Barnes' relationship.
Barnes recently blamed the hit Vh1 reality show for the problems in his relationship and explained that he will no longer appear on the reality TV show to help strengthen his relationship with Govan.
"I'm not on this season. We already opened up our relationship enough and we went through our drama last summer so you know I fell back and let her do her thing and we're going to keep our situation a lot tighter this time around," Barnes said in a radio interview.
Govan, who supported Barnes' decision to no longer appear on the show, recently hinted at the prospect of a surprise wedding in an interview with JoyDailyTV.
"Marriage isn't necessarily a huge priority for me. Matt and I are working on our relationship in terms of being parents first and foremost, being friends secondly and like I said, we had so much growth, we have to get to know each other. I know it's in the future, it's just not tomorrow. I think when it happens, everyone will be surprised because I don't think we will make a big deal out of it," Govan said.
