Basketball Wives: Vanessa Bryant to Join Cast?

Vanessa Bryant is reportedly being eyed for "Basketball Wives" after her very public and expensive marital issues with her estranged husband, Kobe Bryant.

The soon-to-be divorced housewife could become a recurring character on the VH1 reality show now that she is more available, according to TMZ.

"Vanessa has more than enough storyline and would bring the show to another level," a source told TMZ.

The "storyline" the source speaks of is the complicated relationship between Vanessa and Kobe. She was awarded $75 million of Kobe's estimated $150 million estate because the pair had no prenuptial agreement stating otherwise.

Despite Vanessa's newly-acquired wealth, producers still believe they can make her "an extremely lucrative pitch" that would lure her into becoming a recurring character on "Basketball Wives," according to TMZ.

This is only possible because of the commercial success of VH1's reality show.

"Basketball Wives" began filming in 2010, and featured Shaunie O'Neal, Evelyn Lozada, Jennifer Williams, Royce Reed and others - all of whom were romantically linked to a current or former NBA player.

The first season went fairly well, and garnered a substantial following. The show had over a million viewers almost every episode.

Seasons two and three built upon the hit program with new characters, storylines, and drama. The viewership exploded, dwarfing season one and dominating the airwaves with nearly 3 million viewers.

This gave them the funds to afford someone with the status of Vanessa Bryant.

"Basketball Wives" is based in Miami, but now that Vanessa is a possibility, producers are looking to create a spinoff show in Los Angeles.

Should Vanessa decide to accept VH1's enticing offer, she would instantly become one of the main characters on the popular program, reports TMZ.
