'Batman' Movie News: Zack Snyder Wants Ben Affleck to Direct Own Batman Film

After it was reported last week that Ben Affleck is already done penning the script of a standalone "Batman" movie which he will top-bill, the latest report seem to bode well for an "all-Affleck" Batman with the possibility that he will direct the film, too.

In a recent interview with "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" director Zack Snyder shared that many people want Affleck himself to direct the "Batman" movie he will star in

"Oh yeah, for sure. I think he would. I think that's kind of the prerequisite, hopefully, for him doing [the film]," Snyder said.

While it is true that "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" did not fall in the good graces of movie critics, Affleck's take on his Batman character has been spared from the criticisms. In fact, many believe that Affleck's Batman is the best interpretation of the DC superhero, thanks to his being brutal, strong, and scary. For many movie critics, Affleck's performance, along with that of Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, is one of the movie's saving grace.

While there are no official reports from both DC and Warner Bros. for a possible solo "Batman" movie, the buzz that there will be one that will feature Affleck anew becomes louder with each passing day. Last week, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Affleck had already finished scribing the script for a possible "Batman" solo film feature.

"He's contracted to do at least Justice League One and Two, so at least three times wearing the cape… there's a script that he's written that is a really cool [Batman] idea, so that's out there as an option," said Patrick Whitesell, WME-IMG's co-CEO, when asked by The Hollywood Reporter how many movies Affleck has inked a deal with for Warner Bros. and DC for his Batman character.

Ironically, many hardcore DC and Batman fans now adore Affleck as the Dark Knight, contrary to the negative comments the actor received when it was announced in 2014 that he would play the role. DC and Warner Bros. already warned him in advance of the possibility of getting bashed once it was announced that he would be the new Batman and asked him if he was ready for it.

"To me, having been through a certain amount of that, it doesn't really... everyone's entitled to their opinion. I wouldn't have taken the part if I didn't trust my instincts in terms of the filmmaking," Affleck said back then.
