'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' News: 'Wonder Woman' Brushes off Body-Shaming Comments
Gal Gadot brushes off the body shaming comments about her as Wonder Woman by people who still can't get past the fact that she now owns the suit, tiara, magic lasso, bullet-deflecting bracelets of Wonder Woman.
During her guesting on the "Conan O'Brien" show, along with Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, and Amy Adams, the host asked Gadot to comment on the negative reactions about her as Wonder Woman. Before O'Brien could finish his allusion, Gadot answered and coaxed the host to tell her what he has read. Without directly pointing to Gadot her lack of the female bulges, O'Brien cited comments by comic book fans who claim that Wonder Woman in the movies should be well-endowed, just like how she is portrayed in her comic book origins. Gadot acknowledged that she is aware of the comments about her small breasts, which she referred to as her "heart" during the entire segment of the interview.
"Yes, there were some people who had a lot to say about my hearts. At the end of the day you can't please them all, and I completely understand that. And if you want to be original to the story, the Amazons used to have only one breast, because it was in the way with the [bow and arrow]," she said.
When Warner Bros. and DC announced some years back that Gadot would play Wonder Woman in the current blockbuster "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," many netizens were unforgiving of her form, pointing out that she was too thin to breathe life to muscled female superhero. However, with her sheer determination to give justice to the role, she engaged in months of training to bulk up and learned fighting skills necessary for her role. When "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" finally hit the theaters last week, she gained praises for her performance as Wonder Woman and was even dubbed as the movie's scene stealer.
Incidentally, leaked photos of Gadot as the Amazon warrior princess for the upcoming "Wonder Woman" movie show that her character has finally met that of Chris Pines, Steve Trevor. The photos show Diana, aka Wonder Woman, trying to revive Steve Trevor. In the comic book version of the story, Steve Trevor is brought to the shores of Themyscira, Wonder Woman's home island nation, after his plane crashed in waters of the unchartered and hidden place of the Amazons.
