'Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice' Release Date 2016, Cast News: Aquaman Newest Addition

Warner Bros.' upcoming film, "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," is scheduled for a Mar. 25, 2016 release in 3D in the U.S. The film is based on the DC Comics characters Batman, Superman, Lex Luthor, and the formation of the Justice League -- DC's equivalent of Marvel's Avengers.

It won't just be Batman and Superman though, as there will be other well-known DC Comics superheroes such as Wonder Woman. The film is still a long way away and Warner Bros. may reveal more superheroes in the future.

While there are new faces in the film, old cast members will also be making their return. Henry Cavill will be returning as Superman/Clark Kent, and Amy Adams will return as Lois Lane. Batman won't be portrayed by Christian Bale as everyone expected but instead will be cast by Ben Affleck.

The casting of Ben Affleck has been somewhat of a backlash by comic book fans as they generally felt that Affleck would ruin the movie for them. Since then, things have quieted down.

Other new faces include Gal Gadot who will be playing as Diana Prince or Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa will be playing Aquaman, Jesse Eisenberg will be playing as Superman's rival Lex Luthor, and Ray Fisher will be playing Cyborg.

Batman's faithful butler, Alfred, will also be making an appearance in the film and will be portrayed by Jeremy Irons.

The film is still two years away and there are already leaks of on-set photos, one such leak was the new Batmobile.
