'Batman v Superman' Spoilers, Plot News: Superman Gone Bad?
The new teaser for "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" has just been released, and to the surprise of many, it seems the prim and proper hero has gone the wrong path.
In the 50-seconder, Ben Affleck's Batman is seen tied with his hands to the roof, and in another shocking reveal, he isn't the only prisoner doomed inside the dark cavern. Henry Cavill's Superman later comes down in flashy fashion from a hole above the prison and some masked soldiers bow to his entrance.
For the most part, fans love Superman for being the hero that he is — strong, humble, and always on the right track. However, the new teaser unveils an entirely different side of the red-caped hero that no one has ever seen. He slowly walks toward Batman with a menacing and small smile, only to unmask the Dark Knight.
In the big screen, everything can always change, and with this unexpected turn of events, it seems Superman may actually be the one who needs to be unmasked, instead of Batman, whom some fans know as the shady and dark hero who has too many personal issues.
The Hollywood Reporter, just like many other fans and outlets, finds the new scene disturbing all together. The outlet particularly notes that it's unusual to "show a Superman who doesn't react in any way to the sight of men bowing to him or to imagine a Superman who's apparently OK with keeping prisoners chained up by their wrists."
While the total change of heart by the world's most revered hero could be a good idea to boost the curiosity of moviegoers, the outlet comments that it might also be something that would dismay fans from dropping by the theaters when the movie releases.
This is mainly because everyone knows Superman as the "decent" hero who goes with the tradition of abiding by the law and providing justice to whomever it is due. Whatever director Zack Snyder's reasons are for putting a different face on the Man of Steel, fans will just have to wait until "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice" hits the big screens on March 25, 2016.
