'Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice' Questions Superman In A Senate Hearing

In the upcoming and eagerly awaited movie, "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice," Superman is put in the dock and is labelled as an "illegal alien." He will be questioned about killing General Zod and will come up before a Senate hearing.

Viewers will recall that Superman had to deal with very catastrophic events in 2013's "Man of Steel." One of the things that he did to protect Earth was to kill General Zod. How he killed General Zod will become a matter of grave importance and will have Superman put up before the Senate.

Superman had to kill General Zod by snapping his neck. Till now, nobody had questioned Superman about his motives. He is seen as a protector of Earth and humanity. He has been implicitly trusted and no one has ever thought of questioning him.

But in "Batman vs Superman: Dawn of Justice," the makers are treading this path. It is reported that Zack Snyder's new film will have a lot of footage dedicated to this troubling event.

Writer David Goyer spoke to Nerdist and defended Superman's choice of killing General Zod by viciously snapping his neck. In a podcast, Goyer told Nerdist, "You have to do what's right for the story. In that instance, this was a Superman who had only been Superman for like, a week. He wasn't Superman as we think of him in the DC Comics...If you take Superman out of it, what's the right way to tell that story?...The moral, horrible situation to be in is to actually be forced to kill, not wanting to, the only other person from your race. Take Superman aside, I think that's the right way to tell that story."

Also, this battle between Superman and General Zod had resulted in huge collateral damage to Metropolis City. Batman does not approve of this and turns against Superman.

But this can have lots of twists and turns as the movie trailer reveals otherwise. The trailer has Holly Hunter as a US Senator. She declares that "today is the day of truth" and that the world needs to know what exactly happened as Superman's power can be very dangerous. But later in the trailer, it is seen that the Senator goes to meet Lex Luthor.

"Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice" will hit theaters on March 25, 2016.
