'Battlefield 1' DLC Release Date, News: EA Interested in Releasing Single-Player DLC
It looks like all hope is not lost for the release of a single-player downloadable content (DLC) for the first-person shooter video game, "Battlefield 1."
In an interview with Kotaku, Valerian Noghin, the lead designer for the recently released "They Shall Not Pass" DLC, revealed that such type of content is actually on the table.
"Since the single-player was so successful, it's definitely on our radar," he revealed, but quickly emphasizing that it is not a priority for at the moment looking at where they are in "Battlefield 1."
"But at this time, we're committed to our four expansions, and those are only multiplayer. But again, we're listening, and we know that people really appreciated the single-player. So did we," he went on to say.
Noghin also spoke about working on both single-player and multiplayer campaigns for "Battlefield 1" and how his team brings them together.
He said that the single-player side of "Battlefield 1" is serious and "tremendously gruesome" while the multiplayer gameplay adds all the fun and where the competitiveness arises.
"That's why I believe that single-player is the perfect place for treating subjects like this with the respect they deserve, while multiplayer can focus more on team play, gameplay variation, vehicles, and a chaotic sandbox that creates these crazy scenarios. That is the balance," Noghin explained.
The lead designer also said that they could end up doing more maps for "Battlefield 1" like Verdun from "They Shall Not Pass" — an intense-gameplay map where players are surrounded by fire.
"We see the value in doing so, and Verdun is the perfect example. The Russian front will have a lot of ice — frozen terrain, frozen ground, and snowstorms. By the time all the expansions are out, we'll probably have one of the most varied, if not the most varied, Battlefield games ever done," Noghin said.
For now, "Battlefield 1" players should focus on the freshly released "They Shall Not Pass," which is now available for Premium Pass owners, thanks to their two-week early access.
